Progressive Supranuclear Palsy vs Alzheimer's Disease: NFL (CSF)
The levels of neurofilament light chain in the cerebrospinal fluid of people with progressive supranuclear palsy were found to be higher than those of people with Alzheimer's disease (effect size = 1.487, p <0.0001). Published meta-analyses comparing PSP patients to control subjects found nearly three-fold increases in NFL levels in the patients (Bridel et al., 2019; Wang et al., 2017).
