As the quantity of scientific information grows, the ability to effectively find or integrate new knowledge is becoming increasingly difficult. The Biomarkers in Alzheimer's Disease and Mild Cognitive Impairment Knowledgebase is a resource that my colleagues and I have been developing for the past several years. The Knowledgebase currently presents information extracted from over 900 articles on biomarker research that have been published since 1999.
In this Webinar, I describe how the tools developed by the Telemakus Research Group have been used to extract research methods, animal models, data from tables and figures, and research results from published literature. The Knowledgebase displays this data in two formats. The user can browse and review journal articles using an interface that presents a consistent display of research materials, methods, and findings in the format of individual "document surrogates." The user can also generate interactive visual maps of linked concepts for exploring interrelationships among documents.
