  2. This paper adds substantial weight to the evidence for significant neuropathology in the absence of a clinical definition of Alzheimer disease. One wonders whether measures at the synaptic or molecular levels would show stronger association between the postmortem status of brain and sophisticated indices of behavioral capacity.
